My self-published project Making It Chin, developed from my MFA thesis, explores existing Chin cultural designs, identifies areas for innovation, and shows why sustaining Chin heritage through design is essential. Drawing on traditional games, patterns, language, and ritual objects, I created bilingual print materials such as planners, calendars, and game instructions that encourage daily engagement with Chin identity. This work demonstrates how thoughtful design can be a powerful tool for cultural preservation, intergenerational learning, and community empowerment.

El Portal is Eastern New Mexico University’s long-running literary journal, showcasing original short stories, poetry, essays, photography, and visual art from students, alumni, and national contributors. As designer for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 editions, I was responsible for shaping how this diverse content came together into a cohesive, engaging book. The journal featured a wide range of voices, from experimental poetry to narrative photography, so I designed flexible layouts that could adapt to each contributor’s work while maintaining a consistent visual flow. Typography was central to the design: I selected clean, readable typefaces that respected the literary tone while introducing subtle variations for hierarchy and rhythm.
